Overall Winner of Bealtaine Over 55s Photography Competition
May 26th, 2010 · No Comments
Congratulations to John Landy, the winner of Tipperary Libraries recent photography competition. John is from Cashel and only recently took up photography. He himself wasn’t sure if “he was any good”, but that’s obviously not in any doubt now! The competiton judges said John’s entry “Swan Lake” was the clear winner, but praised the standard of all entries from around the county. Photostation, Thurles kindly sponsered all prizes. The winning and selected photographs are currently on display at Cashel library and will move to Nenagh library next week.

Local Studies: Tipperary People and Places lecture series
March 3rd, 2010 · No Comments
On Tuesday 16th February last Richard O’Brien delivered our penultimate lecture in the 2009/2010 Tipperary People and Places Lecture Series. Richard is an archaeologist with the NRA, based in Limerick, and has written articles in a number of journals and similar publications. His lecture was entitled “New archaeological discoveries from the National Roads Authorities’ work in Co. Tipperary”, and it gave the sizeable attending crowd a very fascinating and informative glimpse into the work undertaken, and evidence found, by Richard and his colleagues.
