Nenagh - September Art & Photographic Exhibition

September 7th, 2010 · No Comments

Last Thursday, 2nd September, on the kind of wonderful Autumn evening which we so rarely see in Ireland, a crowd of over 70 people gathered in Nenagh library to launch a wonderful collection of paintings and photographs by talented local artists, Teresa O’Hehir and her granddaughter, Aislinn Smith.

This exhibition had been two years in the planning, having been suggested by Teresa’s husband, Brian, who sadly passed last year. It was launched by Pat Starr, Teresa’s brother, and was dedicated to the memory of Brian. Family, friends and well wishers from Tipperary and around the country  mingled as they admired a wide ranging collection of paintings &photographs.

Teresa has been taking art classes occasionally over the past two years and her natural talent for colour and capturing images was clearly evident. She uses mixed media, oil and watercolours in her paintings of the Irish landscape and flora. Her granddaughter, Aislinn, has been attending the Limerick College of Further Education, studying photography. Her quirky, detailed and at times, personal style was admired by all.

Several pieces were sold on the night, much to the delight of the artists. This exhibition will run for the month of September and all are welcome.

Cashel: Ed Bradley Art Presents an Exhibition of Original works “Absolute abstract” – a return to childhood:

July 5th, 2010 · No Comments

“Absolute abstract”

- a return to childhood:

As a self taught artist, for the last 6 years Ed Bradley has been exploring ways of creating a unique visual experience.

The theme to this exhibition is an attempt to get to “absolute abstract” pictures.

“Absolute abstract” starts off with no reference in reality - and through the process of creation becomes something, which evolves and takes shape, creating some tenuous foothold in reality. In viewing abstract paintings we have to consult within ourselves and be totally dependant on our internal information: our feelings, intuition and imagination to understand what visual experience we see means to us personally. Providing this visual experience is his objective for this exhibition.

He enjoys painting a wide range of subjects, including some early works attempted to capture the power of a turbulent seas, using a minimalist pallet, while maximizing texture through the use of pallet knives and stippling. The cold of the Irish seas gives way to the warmth and radiance in colour of the “Africa” series of pictures.

Nenagh - Bealtaine 55’s Photographic Competition

June 28th, 2010 · No Comments

Member of the public enjoying the exhibition of photographs from the Bealtaine 55’s competition. This small travelling exhibition went around the county displaying the winners, runners up and those which were ‘highly commended’ in the recent over 55’s photography competition for Bealtaine. The quality and variety of these photographs was stunning and we can only wonder at the speed and skill of these amateur photographers to catch the images that they did.
